The more things change...

Okay, it has been quite a while since we've last spoken.

The big driver has been apathy. I just felt that I haven't any important news or earth-shaking revelations. I spent the year working and learning but not really moving forward.

So I'll talk a little more about the recent goings on in a later post, but I wanted to catch you all up on the big news.  As a birthday present to myself, I'm taking advantage of the summer discount on membership. Yes, for the rest of this summer, I have joined the ranks of the membered class. (I guess it's analogous to the landed gentry or the one-percent.)

A big rock fell from the sky? Poke it with a metal stick!

So as a brief run-down, in my first 24 hours as a member, I have:

• found out I can't do anything with ports yet (*which is annoying)
• cooked all the raw shark and monkfish in my bank (the rockfish will have to wait)
• used leftover butterflies and loot crates from earlier this year
• built a flotilla of toy battleships
• mined a fallen star
• ran an errand for Doric
• infused five spirit wolf pouches as a daily task for Fara
• learned that I need to complete Varrock tasks to get armour to use Edgeville forge
• discovered that it takes 21 agility to use the shortcut tunnel between GE and Edgeville
• fed the giant clam on sunken tutorial isle seaweed and sea cucumbers (and must now to wait three weeks for a reward)
• looted my first Clue Scroll (medium)
• nearly got killed by a skeletal wyvern in two hits (oops)
• teleported to Camelot
• easily soloed Hollowtoof twice (with member weapons and armour)
• renamed my baby troll 'raw shark' (for reasons I'll explain later)
• fletched some arrows
• won a fishing contest (first members quest!)

*One of the reasons I got membership was my bank was full of rewards from Meg's

Mysteries related to port activities. So I figured I could use those items. Wrong.

I started off very confused, though. I thought I had bought membership but then got the following message:

I'm getting charged for renewal TODAY, but can't play until September? What gives, Jagex?

[Insert witty joke about those wacky Brits on the other side of the Pond]

So yes, I've been playing steadily for months, just not letting you all know about Christmas, or the Easter event, or the 15th Anniversary celebration or anything else. You probably already knew about those, but if you're reading this blog (thank you, by the way!) then obstensibly you're wanting to learn my take on the events on Gielinor. So I'm back in the saddle, ready to do that for you on a more regular basis. Thank you for your patience.
